Publisher: Science Education Resource Center
Description: This portal provides access to information on ways to bring modern research results into undergraduate courses. Each project features key topics, discovery pathways, and activities for students, many of which make use of internet resources and online databases. The projects include 'All Things Cretaceous' an assortment of digital resources relevant to the Cretaceous Period; 'Exploring the Yellowstone Geoecosystem', digital resources relevant to the geology, physiography, hydrology, biota, and human impacts on Yellowstone National Park; and 'Geoscience Education in the New Cyberinfrastructure', a resource collection devoted to exploring ways that new cyberinformatic databases and related tools can enhance geoscience education. There is also a resource collection which explores new ways to incorporate crystal structure databases and 3-D visualization software in undergraduate mineralogy courses, a set of case studies looking at the economic and health impacts of resource development on Native American lands, and other resource collections on environmental health assesments, geochronology, advances in paleotology, and a collection of resources dealing with the Hurrican Katrina Disaster.
