Title: Pathology Case Study: Progressive Neurologic Disorders
Url: https://path.upmc.edu/cases/case86.html
Creator: Klatt, Edward C., 1951-
Smith, Christopher M.
Publisher: University of Pittsburgh. Dept. of Pathology
Description: The Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center has compiled a wide range of pathology case studies to aid students and instructors in learning. Three neuropathology cases are presented here for review. Patient histories for a 65-year-old female with gradual onset of memory loss, a 69-year-old male with rapid loss of motor skills, and a 61-year-old male with cognitive deterioration are all included in this case study. Gross and microscopic descriptions and images of each individual case aid in the understanding and diagnosis of each patient’s medical condition. In the "Final Diagnosis" section we learn the official conclusion of the doctor. A discussion of the disease and references follow the final diagnosis. Students entering health sciences fields will find this resource very helpful, as it provides experience with patient history, lab results and diagnostics.
