Title: Aquifer Maps and Maine Ground Water PDF
Url: https://www.maine.gov/dacf/mgs/education/lessons/act11.pdf
Publisher: Maine. Department of Conservation.
Description: In this activity, students will develop an understanding of the dynamics of ground water; understand the interrelations between ground water and surface water; and increase their knowledge of surficial and bedrock geology. They will use this information to make sound decisions about siting locations for industries/business that may have an impact on water quality. In the first part of the activity, students will analyze a diagram of divisions of subsurface water and examine the relationship between precipitation, evaporation, infiltration, and runoff. In the second part of the activity, they will use an aquifer map to research and answer questions about local water supplies and threats to these supplies.
